Here are some tips for getting started in the industry.
Develop a specialty in the field. If you’re choosing information technology as your career field, you’ll quickly find out that there are a number of subfields you can choose from. Figure out what interests you the most, or even what you have some experience in in order to develop a specialty. This focus is best chosen while still training so that you can start to hone your skills. Be sure to set career goals. Once you’ve decided what subfield to specialize in, you can start to create career goals geared toward that specialty. You may choose to be a consultant, a full-time employee for a major company, or even work as an entrepreneur who develops their own information technology company. Set realistic goals so you have something to work toward. Be realistic about your job options. Before you can begin working for large companies and create success for yourself in the field, you need to work your way up. This means targeting entry level jobs when you get out of school that will help you learn and gain experience in the industry. Haruyasu Idachi understands that working information technology can mean different things for different people, and he believes that creating a specialty, setting goals, and being realistic is important.
